Trading while on haj pilgrimage
There was a belief in those days that people on a journey performing Haj should not be involved in trading. This verse (2:198) was revealed to make people understand that doing so is not wrong.
(Hadith Book Bukhari:1770, 2050, 2098)
Carrying of goods to Makkah by people on a journey to perform Haj to sell them there or, carrying some goods back from Makkah to their hometown to sell them here is not considered a crime, or neither does it displeases God. At the same time, it should not create hinderances to performing Haj rituals.
